With all the dimensional shingles out
there,it may become confusing. I will
help you become more knowledgeable.
1) Basic shingle (to your left)
Three tabs come in a variety of single
colors, no special effects or resists to
algae growth. Typical comes in 20,25,
year warranty. They lay flat on the roof,
no rising in the shingle for shadow effect.
2) Dimensional shingle
(to the right and below)
Has an artichectical look, comes in a
variety of colors and they are resist to
algae growth. They have a shadowing
effect to them. Made with three different
color grains. As you can see to the left.
They become an upgrade, from the basic
3 tab shingle, so you will get a better
warranty. They come in 30,40,50 year. A
little more in pricing, but very well worth
it. The higher up you go in years the more
shadowing effect you will have. Also I may
add if your house has a deep pitch to it, this
will enhance the shadowing effect to your
home. The high the pitch of your roof the
better it will look.As you can see to your left.

Owens Corning has expanded its popular Duration® line of roofing shingles to help improve energy efficiency and curb appeal. Duration Premium Cool Roof shingles use solar-reflective granules embedded in the shingles to lower a home's roof temperature, resulting in potentially lower heating-related energy costs for homeowners. The shingles meet federal ENERGY STAR® and California's new Title 24 Cool Roof standards (effective in August 2009), and are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council for their performance. The new line will be available in the Compton, Calif. plant service area on March 31st. Broader distribution will be decided as the market dictates. To ensure aesthetic appeal and additional differentiated value for builders and roofing contractors, the new line offers a three-dimensional look and a unique, more vivid color palette than what's traditionally available in other "cool roof" products and applications.
